Annette Reitano is a high school language arts teacher for special education students at Utah Connections Academy (UCA). She started her teaching career in 2002 and joined UCA in 2016. Ms. Reitano received her master’s degree in education, endorsed in special education severe disabilities K–12+, from City University of New York. She shares more about her experience at UCA below.
"I became a teacher because I wanted to add value to the community in which I live. I love that at UCA I can give students more one-on-one attention than I could when I worked in a bricks-and- mortar setting.
UCA prepares students for the future by empowering them to take responsibility for their learning and become independent and self-reliant learners.
When I'm not at school, I can often be found roving thrift stores looking for antique books."
