Why I Became an Educator
I became a teacher to share some of my life experience and knowledge with students, and to let them know there are people who care. I love learning and want only the best for my students. I’ve been teaching for over 22 years, with several teaching assignments around the country.
Teaching is a second career for me. I’ve owned businesses for over 35 years, running a retail floral and garden center, a nursery company, and a landscaping enterprise. My love for working with students started when I ran those businesses. Students of all ages came through my store and greenhouse, and I realized I could teach them something fun and useful they could use in their life.
“Oregon Connections Academy is all about providing the best education we can for our students and their families.”
— Mr. Perrault
The Online School Experience at Oregon Connections Academy
Because it’s an online school, Oregon Connections Academy enables me to have more personal, one-on-one connections with students and learn their stories. The school is always looking to improve its technology, curriculum, and other educational opportunities so our students and families can be successful.
Oregon Connections Academy values our entire school community. Students, parents, and staff are all valued for their part in educating students, because everyone plays an important role. I try to make science fun and help students become more aware of themselves and their environment.

Hobbies and Interests
I have a large family — seven children altogether, ranging in age from 15 to 39, including several with special needs. When we get together with spouses and grandkids, there are 18 at the table! I still maintain a landscaping business and greenhouses with help from my sons. Being in nature is fun for me. Gardening, camping, woodworking, bike riding — it’s all good.
