STEM EDUCATION
Washington Connections Academy gives students opportunities to get a high-quality online education that emphasizes science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

Washington Connections Academy Network of Schools STEM-Focused Lessons and Opportunities
We are committed to encouraging students to explore STEM and to delivering STEM-focused opportunities that provide project-based learning experiences. These lessons are designed to spark students’ curiosity and to inspire them to explore the learning, research, and career options of these important fields of study.
What does STEM stand for?
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. This integrated approach to learning encourages students to think more broadly about real-world problems.
Additional STEM Education Opportunities
Robotics & Coding Clubs
- Robotics is the intersection of science, tech, engineering, and math. From designing and programming to building a machine, this club demands a highly interdisciplinary knowledge and makes students go through a series of tasks so they can learn by doing.
- Coding Club turns the study of technology into a productive skill. Designed for students in elementary and middle school who want to try out programming, the Coding Club is a fun way to learn to code in a social, after-school setting.
- Connections Esports brings together several Connections Academy Esports Clubs.
Hands-On Learning and Social Opportunities
3D printer available for student use: 3D-printing is a manufacturing process that creates a physical object from a digital model file. The technology works by adding layer upon layer of material to build up a complete object. Students can use this printer to create prototypes, functional parts, or simply explore their creativity.
Social and learning opportunities centered on current events. At Washington Connections Academy, we regularly host online watch parties for NASA launches, scientific discoveries, and technology discussions.
STEM and CTE Alignment Opportunities
Career and Technical Education (CTE) is an important part of the STEM educational goals established by the Department of Education. CTE is a catalyst for STEM education, which can help prepare your student(s) for their future. CTE integrates several STEM topics to help ignite their curiosity and discover their passions.
