How to Transfer School Mid-Year?

We can't wait to help your child start their online school journey, where they’ll gain the knowledge, tools, and personal connections they need to thrive. While most Connections Academy schools do accept mid-year transfer students, eligibility may depend on grade level, enrollment caps, and more.

Please note: do not disenroll your student from their current school until the transfer process is complete and your student has started learning with us.

Steps to Take

Find Your School

Explore our schools to see if there’s a Connections Academy-supported school in your state and if your child is eligible to enroll.

Submit Your Application

Once on your school’s site, you’ll be able to submit an application and upload the required documents. This can be done from your computer or mobile device.

Confirm Your Enrollment

After we review your forms, we’ll let you know if we need anything else. If your school still has open spaces for mid-year transfer students, we’ll extend your offer to enroll in our vibrant and supportive online learning community!

Begin Learning!

Your student’s courses will be assigned, and any applicable materials will arrive at your home as soon as possible. You’ll also receive information about orientation sessions and available resources!

Can you switch schools in the middle of the year?

The opportunity to make a mid-year transfer depends on a variety of factors, including individual school policy, the availability of open spots, and more. We recommend reaching out to your state’s Connections Academy school to determine whether transferring is an option for your student. Rest assured that if your student is able to join us, we will offer all the tools, resources, and support they need to make a smooth transition.

How long does it take to transfer schools?

What information do I need to switch to Connections Academy?

For an exact list of required documents, please contact your local school. You can start by requesting unofficial transcripts and your child’s most recent report card from your their current school, which can help determine course placement. You can also collect important paperwork, including your child’s birth certificate and immunization records. It’s important to note that you should not disenroll your child from their current school until the transfer process is complete.
