SOCIALIZATION
Life is not just about academics. Students socialize with other incredible students through online clubs, in-person activities, and field trips that connect peers and turn classmates into friends.

OVERVIEW
Bringing Students Together
Connecting with other students at school and in the local community is a big part of what makes Texas Connections Academy @ Houston so enriching. Children from the Great Plains, Panhandle Plains and Mountains & Basins alike love all the opportunities they have to make new friends and explore their passions.
In addition to meeting with their fellow students in LiveLesson® sessions and collaborating with them on school projects, your child can join many other activities. Our virtual clubs for students give your child the chance to meet up with students with similar interests. When available, in-person field trips in the Coastal Plains, North Central Plains, Big Bend Country and throughout the state bring students together for great learning experiences. And the more flexible schedule gives your child time to play sports, pursue art, volunteer or do anything else they enjoy in their community.
FIELD TRIPS
Exploring the World Together
There is so much to see and do all over Texas. And our voluntary field studies give your child a unique learning opportunity to experience these amazing places outside of the classroom environment. From historical sites to zoos, museums, the great outdoors and so much more, your child can go on exciting educational adventures alongside their fellow students, exploring and learning about the world around them.
CLUBS & ACTIVITIES
Doing What Excites Them Most
What does your child love? Computer coding? Writing poetry? Playing chess? Maybe they want to try their hand at journalism. Or take part in a scientific experiment. Whatever their passion—whatever new interest they want to explore—they’ll likely find an online club that feels made for them. Through our clubs, your child can build on the skills they’re learning in class while making new friends and gaining social confidence. Our clubs even offer opportunities to compete in contests at local, state and national levels. Clubs are a wonderful way for your child to learn, grow and enjoy school even more.

MILITARY FAMILY SUPPORT
Here for Those Who Serve
Family. It’s the building block of communities. And an important part of helping children develop the character and resilience they need to thrive. Which is why our Military Support Team is here to make sure there is dedicated support and resources for military families in Texas to overcome the unique challenges they face. We welcome military families into our community with open arms. In fact, we’re currently pursuing the Purple Star designation from the Texas Education Agency. If you or your spouse serves in the U.S. military, we’re prepared to assist:
- When your family transfers from a base in another state
- If your family needs guidance when transitioning to an online environment
- When you need information about Texas graduation requirements
- If your child needs extra support during a family member’s deployment
- As you plan a transfer to an out-of-state base
- Whenever other needs related to military service arise

GRADUATION
Celebrating With Families
High school graduation is a big deal. And, at Texas Connections Academy, we give it all the pomp and circumstance it deserves.
When your child graduates from our online high school in Texas, they’ll gather with you and the rest of your family for a graduation ceremony. Caps and gowns and diplomas are all part of the day, giving your child the recognition they’ve earned before they move on to their next adventure, prepared to take on the world.

COMMUNITY
Connecting on the Local Level
Whether you live in one of the many small towns or big cities of Texas, your local community is a part of who you are. And that makes it a part of who we are too. All across the state, our Learning Coaches and students come together in local groups (called regions) to volunteer and participate in school and community events. It's a great way to be part of your local community and your online school community.
Parents/Caretakers, in particular, perform a very important role, as they often play the role of the Learning Coach, keeping the student on track and regularly communicating with teachers. Parents/Caretakers and Learning Coaches serve as educational partners in supporting student success, and have access to training, tools and resources to help them be successful in their role. Want to connect with other caretakers of enrolled Connections Academy students?
Groups like Learning Coach communities and Club Connections allow parents to support one another, share their experiences, and advocate for their school.
