One shining example of this is Kylan, a long-time Texas Connections Academy student, and his Learning Coach, Kenyetta, who have been part of our school community for seven years.
Learning Beyond the Traditional Classroom
For Kylan, online learning at Texas Connections Academy goes far beyond textbooks and worksheets.
“Texas Connections Academy teaches us to be creative, use our minds, and learn about things that regular schools won’t teach us,” Kylan shares.
This focus on creativity, critical thinking, and real-world learning has helped Kylan develop confidence and curiosity—skills that will serve him well far beyond school.

Growth, Independence, and Leadership
From a Learning Coach’s perspective, Kenyetta has seen firsthand how online learning has shaped her son’s growth.
“Online learning offers flexibility and higher learning,” she explains. “I love the curriculum, teachers, and staff, and I’ve seen early development of independence.”
Over the years, that independence has flourished. Kylan has grown into a young entrepreneur who knows the career path he wants to pursue. He has stepped into leadership roles within Texas Connections Academy, helping welcome new students, and even serves as a young chairman and board member of a nonprofit organization.
“We are so proud of our son,” Kenyetta says.
Flexibility That Fits Real Life
One of the greatest benefits Kylan values is flexibility.
“Texas Connections Academy has flexible school hours that help me do sports and other after-school activities,” he shares.
That flexibility has allowed Kylan to balance academics with extracurriculars and personal interests—without sacrificing learning.
Kenyetta echoes this benefit from a parent’s point of view:
