Texas Middle School Online

The On-Ramp to Success

The middle school years at Texas Connections Academy @ Houston (TCAH) are an exciting time as students become increasingly independent with their studies and begin to take more responsibility for their learning. TCAH virtual school helps students see their own potential and the many possibilities that are open to them.

Virtual lesson directions are now written directly to students, as Learning Coaches move into a more supportive role. Online middle school students are encouraged to take the lead in their studies and are held to high standards as they move toward their high school years.

Support for Online Middle School Students

Middle school students start to work directly with highly qualified subject area teachers for their virtual courses, but they remain under the guidance of a counselor or an advisory teacher for overall support. They actively participate in teacher-led virtual instruction and review sessions via our LiveLesson® tool, which provides not only more specific instructional assistance, but also the opportunity for students to communicate and work with their peers.

Course Electives and Activities

Students vary their education with exposure to many different subjects and activities in the middle school curriculum. Students in our Texas middle school program choose from a wide range of online elective courses and become involved in a variety of school clubs and activities. They can join clubs that enrich them in whole new ways, like competing in Mathematical Olympiads.

Additionally, gifted students have access to high-school-level online courses and begin to earn high school credit, subject to their counselor’s approval.
