Through a unique combination of core courses as well as plenty of college and career readiness offerings, our online homeschool in Texas empowers students to find their own way forward—wherever life takes them.
Texas Connections Academy aligns with all Texas state standards and consists of two programs, operated and authorized in partnership with the Houston Independent School District (HISD) for grades 3-12 and Mineral Wells Independent School District (MWISD) for grades 3-10. Pearson Virtual Schools USA is in partnership with HISD to provide Texas Connections Academy as an External Performance Contract Campus. Connections Academy schools are supported by Connections Education LLC, dba Pearson Virtual Schools, which is accredited by Cognia.
How Much Does Texas Connections Academy High School Cost?
Texas Connections Academy is 100 percent tuition free! Like other Texas public schools, Texas Connections Academy is fully funded by the state, allowing us to provide a high-quality learning experience aligned with Texas educational standards at no cost to families.
There are no hidden fees—just like at traditional brick and mortar schools, families are only responsible for school supplies, optional in-person field trips, computers, and internet.
How Does Our Online High School Work?
Students spend 30 hours per week learning and growing.
- 90% of each school day is spent exploring lessons online
- 10% of each school day is spent working independently offline or with a Learning Coach
High school students complete a mix of independent work in our dedicated online learning portal and regularly scheduled LiveLesson sessions with peers and their high school teachers.
They also spend valuable quality time with their Learning Coach, typically filled by a parent or caregiver who supports their learning throughout the school day.
Our Online Curriculum for Grades 9-12
Created by experts in online learning, our curriculum helps challenge and inspire our high school students at every grade level. Your student will further their traditional education through core courses as well as take electives, college prep, and/or career-focused courses that match their unique interests and goals.
We proudly offer AP® and gifted and talented courses , built to inspire a lifelong love for learning and to help students reach their highest potential. In addition, many of our classes have been approved by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
High School Extracurricular Activities
Making connections and building friendships are a vital part of any high school education—including one completed online! Through a combination of LiveLesson® sessions, school projects, virtual clubs and activities, and optional in-person events, our students receive plenty of opportunities to make essential and long-lasting connections with their teachers and peers.
