Why I Became an Educator

"I’ve always wanted to be a teacher of some sort since I was little. I love helping people, and watching students grow in their learning is very rewarding. I’ve always wanted to make a positive impact in the lives of others and working in education is how I get to contribute.

I love teaching math. If I could teach math all day, I would! My favorite thing about working at Arkansas Connections Academy is that I can work closely with our students and their families. I really like the closeness this creates for us.

What I Want My Students to Know

Growing up you have favorite teachers, and mine was my third-grade teacher, Mrs. Cissy. She was fun and full of energy, and you never questioned the amount of love she had for you. She made you feel empowered and ready to take on any challenge. To this day, I am still friends with Mrs. Cissy. She made a huge impact on a shy little girl.

The one thing I want my students to know is to never stop dreaming. Dreams encourage and challenge us to grow.

Some Personal Interests

I love to spend time with my family. We are outdoor enthusiasts, so we enjoy all things outdoors. We love to go to the river to play or relax, camp, or enjoy a hike on one of Arkansas’ beautiful trails. I also love music. I enjoy playing piano and occasionally guitar, as well as singing. You can usually find me surrounded by music in some form. Last but not least, I am an avid reader! I always have two or three books lined up to read in my free time.”
