Appleton, Wis. – Wisconsin Connections Academy, a statewide, tuition-free online public school, is pleased to announce the graduation of 50 students in the Class of 2024 at a traditional graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Appleton North High School (5000 N Ballard Rd, Appleton, Wis. 54913).
Wisconsin Connections Academy’s graduating class has a wide variety of post-graduation plans. Among these plans, more than 40 percent plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college, including Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, St. Cloud State University, Wisconsin Lutheran College and the University of Wisconsin. Additionally, 34 percent plan to enter the workforce and others have plans to enter the military, pursue vocational training, or take a gap year.
“It is a great privilege to celebrate the Class of 2024 today and all their achievements,” said Michelle Mueller, Wisconsin Connections Academy’s school leader. “These graduates have shown ambition and determination to arrive at this milestone, and we look forward to seeing all they accomplish during this next chapter.”
Each graduate who crosses the stage came to Wisconsin Connections Academy for the flexible learning plans that were uniquely tailored to match their needs and abilities. They had access to an award-winning curriculum and dozens of wide-ranging electives and academic clubs to broaden their skills and explore new interests.
“Being a student at Wisconsin Connections Academy allowed me to be independent because I’m able to do what I think is best for me and still have the support from my teachers,” said Roxy Slavin, a 2024 graduate. “Nothing compares to Connections Academy. It’s easy to understand the concepts the way they are presented in the lessons. All my recorded live online classroom sessions are super helpful for reviewing material, and the teachers are amazing.”
Roxy appreciates the scheduling flexibility as a student with Wisconsin Connections Academy. She had the ability to complete her assignments and lessons without interfering with her dance career. Roxy first started dancing when she was four years old, and now she is the youngest dancer in the Milwaukee Ballet's Second Company (MBII). Roxy’s dancing career is full-time, as she finds herself in the dance studio from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and more when she has upcoming performances. Her post-graduate plans include hoping to continue her career as a professional dancer.
