Introduction and Scope
Utah Connections Academy (UCA) is committed to providing a learning and working environment free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. In accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, UCA does not discriminate on the basis of sex, including pregnancy, childbirth, termination of pregnancy, lactation, related medical conditions, sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, sexual orientation, or gender identity, in any of its education programs or activities.
Title IX applies to all school operations, including, but not limited to:
Admission and enrollment
Academic programs and courses
Counseling and advising
Online and in-person school-sponsored activities and events
Extracurricular activities and clubs
Athletics and school-sponsored competitions
Employment, hiring, and personnel practices

How to Report a Title IX Concern
Any person, student, parent/guardian, employee, or member of the public may report sex discrimination or sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking, at any time.

Reports may be made during or outside of normal school business hours. You may report in any of the following ways:
In writing by email or mail
By phone or virtual meeting
In person with a school administrator
Anonymously, by omitting your name on the online form or in your written report
Emergency situations involving immediate safety threats should be reported by calling 911 or contacting local law enforcement.
What Happens After You Report
Upon receiving a report, the Title IX Coordinator will:
Reach out to the complainant (the person reported to be affected) to offer supportive measures.
Explain the Title IX grievance process and how to file a formal Title IX complaint.
Discuss supportive measures available with or without a formal complaint, such as:
academic adjustments
schedule changes
no-contact restrictions
counseling referrals
If a formal complaint is filed, the school will follow its Title IX grievance procedures, which include:
written notice of the allegations
an impartial investigation
equal opportunity to present evidence
a written determination
appeal rights
UCA prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports, files a complaint, assists someone with a complaint, or participates in an investigation or proceeding.

Training
UCA uses Vector Solutions to provide our Title IX training for all staff. This training reinforces the long-standing federal expectations that schools protect students and employees from sex-based discrimination and harassment. The course is designed specifically for K–12 educators and gives a solid grounding in:
Understanding what behaviors constitute sex-based harassment and discrimination
Recognizing reporting requirements and staff responsibilities
Providing accurate information about the Title IX coordinator
Title IX law and regulatory guidance
The fundamentals of Title IX enforcement in K–12 settings
