According to Lindzy, “The teachers here are gems. At the beginning of the year, the teacher calls every student and Learning Coach, getting to know one another better. During that time, we’re given their work phone with text message capability and email address … They are fantastic with communication! Any question or concern we have is addressed with empathetic care and attention. I truly believe that is what makes online schooling work.

“My favorite Learning Coach activity is helping my daughters with their most dreaded assignments—math and social studies. … We try to make it fun working together discovering new historical facts. We read the first part of social studies together and then quiz one another through the last half, seeing who will remember the most. For math, we race one another on solving problems. … I know it won’t be long before they are schooling me in math! 

“My daughters stick to a fairly strict schedule, which allows them to have freedom and time to play once school is finished for the day. … They generally attend almost every club the school offers—including Reading and Writing, Cooking, Minecraft, Lego, Drawing, and Math clubs. Outside of the school, they’re in a softball league, dance ballet and jazz, and attend clubs at the local library. Our goal is to have school finished by 2:45 p.m. so they have free time before clubs or extracurricular activities begin.”
