Jennifer Walling joined Texas Connections Academy @ Houston in 2014. One of the many things she loves about the school is seeing students grow in their confidence and skills. Ms. Walling shares her story below.

Why I Became an Educator

After college, I worked in a professional field, but the stress never seemed worth it. Coming from a family of teachers, I think in some ways it was always in my blood. I decided to switch paths to education because I knew all the work and time spent was worth it to support students and families.

I like the range of students we have at Texas Connections Academy @ Houston. All the students have unique reasons for joining our school, so it’s really special to support each student and family as they pursue their personal goals.

The Online School Experience at Texas Connections Academy

The school seeks to understand the challenges of each student, so we welcome each family and make a point of building relationships. Although we all live across the state, our teachers and administrators make sure to let every student know we are here for them in any way we can help.

My favorite part of the job is hearing from families. I love seeing students grow in their confidence and skills toward having a successful future. Online school allows for so much flexibility for students. Every student has teachers to support their growth with individualized attention.

At Texas Connections Academy, students learn to take ownership of their learning, which builds capacity and increases their success in future endeavors.

I love seeing students grow in their confidence and skills toward having a successful future.
