Ava was also an award-winning competitive dancer, sang in her local high school choir, and played in the school’s jazz band. As our school’s National Honor Society president, she led volunteer efforts to clear trails at local parks, helped at an animal shelter, and made blankets for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Ava says there are many reasons why she’s been able to excel academically. “I was able to have one-on-one time with my teachers if I needed help with a lesson. Being able to do revisions on work also allowed me to develop a better understanding of the topics I didn’t do as well on.”
