Virtual Teachers Who Connect

Connections Academy attracts caring, talented virtual teachers who have a genuine respect for young people and believe strongly in collaborating with parents to prepare each student for success. Because they know their students well, Connections Academy teachers can personalize lessons and coursework to ensure that each student receives the right degree of challenge or support. Often, teachers get to know the entire family. These close bonds enable teachers to make lifelong connections with their students.

Inside the Virtual Classroom

Connections Academy students enjoy a rich online learning experience because teachers receive intensive training in online instruction. They know how to put multimedia resources and powerful interactive tools to work in order to motivate and engage students.

Connections Academy online teachers can create the lively personal interactions of a traditional classroom in an online setting. In a virtual lesson session, teachers can explain or demonstrate new concepts, lead discussions, write on a whiteboard, and show videos or other visuals. They can also create virtual “breakout” rooms where classmates can meet to collaborate on group projects.

Impressive Credentials

Connections Academy teachers are certified in their grade levels and subject areas. All have a bachelor’s degree, and many have a master’s or other advanced degree. They update their skills with training, coaching, and professional development. Teachers also collaborate regularly with other teachers to share best practices, subject matter tips, and teaching methods, as well as to coordinate their efforts to meet the student’s needs.

Licensed School Counselors

Connections Academy’s complete school program also includes licensed school counselors. They are ready to advise students and families about academic matters, personal or social issues, college preparation, and career development.

Helping Students Succeed

With master’s degrees and specialized training in developmental and educational psychology, counselors are skilled at helping students address the personal, social, and academic issues that can affect their success in school and in life.

Counselors are readily accessible to students and families—online, in person, and by phone. With the additional support from the national Connections Academy office and its collaborative network of school counselors across the United States, counselors bring both individual attention and national expertise to students and families.
