Why I Became a Teacher

I became a teacher because I genuinely love working with children. Their curiosity and enthusiasm make every day meaningful, and watching them learn and grow year after year is truly amazing.

Seeing Growth Through Connection

The most rewarding part of my work at Missouri Connections Academy is building meaningful relationships with my students and watching them grow both academically and personally. Teaching online allows me to meet students where they are and provide individualized support that helps them gain confidence and independence in their learning.

One of the most impactful connections I’ve made as a teacher was with a student who initially struggled with confidence and engagement in the virtual setting. By taking the time to really get to know the student and maintaining consistent communication with their family, we built a strong partnership focused on support and encouragement. Over time, I watched that student begin to participate more, take academic risks, and believe in their own abilities. Seeing the growth that came from trust, patience, and collaboration was incredibly meaningful to me and reinforced why building relationships with both students and families is at the heart of effective teaching.

“I love that the virtual environment offers flexibility, accessibility, and unique opportunities to engage students through interactive lessons, while still creating a strong sense of community and connection.”

Engaging Students Online

Hands-on science experiments are my absolute favorite thing to do with my students. They ignite curiosity, keep learners fully engaged, and turn every lesson into an exciting journey of exploration and discovery.

The Online School Experience

An education at Missouri Connections Academy helps prepare students for a bright and successful future by fostering strong academic skills, independence, and a love of learning. Students are encouraged to think critically, set goals, and take ownership of their education while receiving personalized support tailored to their individual needs. Through engaging instruction and meaningful relationships, Missouri Connections Academy equips students with the confidence, skills, and mindset they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Life Beyond the Classroom

Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family and traveling whenever I can. Exploring new places and cultures is something I’m really passionate about, and I enjoy sharing those experiences with my students. I also love being creative, whether that’s working on art projects, reading, or finding new ways to bring fun and creativity into my lessons. Staying curious and adventurous, both in life and learning, is something I truly value.

“Our school is truly a partnership. We support the whole child by providing personalized instruction, meaningful connections, and the flexibility families need, while working closely with parents every step of the way. Together, we create an environment where students feel supported, confident, and excited to learn.”
