Why I Became a Teacher

I’ve known from a very young age that I wanted to help people. Growing up watching my father as a teacher inspired me to use my gifts to reach students.

I was raised on our family farm where the only things you could play with were chickens and maybe the one traffic light in town. I have deep roots in my faith, family, and community and would love for my students to feel that same sense of belonging in my class. I’ve raised two boys with my youngest being in 8th grade this year. I know how hard it is. My job is to not only help my students reach success in math, but also to foster a love of self and others.

Meaningful Engagement

The most rewarding part is when a student understands a concept after I’ve taught it. Hearing “this is so much easier” or “you make this better to understand” are the only accolades I need. Online teaching causes me to be much more intentional with my instruction. Having such a variation of learning styles, personalities, and home lives makes me really hone in on the individual.

Honestly, my favorite classroom activity has nothing to do with math. I love the personal interactions I get to have with the kiddos, seeing their pets, meeting their families, and becoming a part of their environment. It’s so much less sterile and scripted.

“Whether your student needs a little extra push or they fly high on their own, let us provide them with a nurturing, safe environment where their individual strengths are celebrated and they have the flexibility to meet their lifestyle.”

Preparing Students for the Future

We empower students by providing cutting edge pedagogy, where communication and collaboration are essential to the online delivery. Our students become advocates for themselves, and by fostering a sense of community, we are able to establish lifelong skills with students more prepared for the ever‑changing world.

Life Beyond the Classroom

I am passionate about living life to its fullest. My family and I enjoy all the outdoor activities. Whether we’re mudding our 4‑wheelers, camping, or climbing mountains, my sons and I have so many great memories of finding an adventure together.
