Ashley Carter has more than 10 years of experience in education. She joined the faculty at Missouri Connections Academy when it opened in 2020, initially serving as a master teacher before moving into her current role as high school assistant principal. She is passionate about innovative, student-centered learning, particularly in STEM education.

Rigorous Curriculum, Personalized Education

Ms. Carter is proud of the caliber of education that Missouri Connections Academy provides its students. “Our program is rigorous,” she says, “but it’s also designed to meet students where they are.” Beyond academic achievement, she emphasizes the importance of helping students develop ownership of their learning, skills that prepare them for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

The challenging curriculum is designed to bring out the best in each student. As part of the administration, it is Ms. Carter’s responsibility to ensure that teachers provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. She is especially focused on expanding opportunities in STEM, helping students explore real-world applications, problem-solving, and future career pathways.

Missouri Connections Academy recognizes that each student is an individual, and that teachers must adapt to a wide range of strengths and learning styles. Ms. Carter believes that online education, with its emphasis on one-on-one teacher-student interaction, allows for a level of personalization that is difficult to achieve in traditional brick-and-mortar settings.

Outside of School

When not attending to her many responsibilities at Missouri Connections Academy, Ms. Carter enjoys the outdoors, as well as reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is a lifelong learner who values continuous growth, both personally and professionally.

"Every decision we make comes back to what our students deserve."
