High School Student
Lake is the Lighthouse Connections Academy class of 2023 valedictorian. In addition to helping him thrive academically, online learning has given Lake the flexibility he needs to pursue his passion: climate change activism.
Lake is involved with climate organizations in various local, statewide, and national roles. According to Lake, “This requires a good deal of travel and flexibility in my schedule. So I decided to look for an online school that would enable me to get a quality education while continuing my political organizing work.”
The flexibility and self-organizing model of Lighthouse Connections Academy’s curriculum has allowed Lake to concentrate on his classwork at times that worked best for his schedule. “I’ve been able to decide the times when I would focus on school without distractions. My teachers and counselors have been immensely helpful and accommodating, which I have greatly appreciated.”
