Enrollment Information for the 2024-25 School Year
In order to provide a high–quality education to all of our students, Kansas Connections Academy deemed it essential to set an enrollment limit. At this time, the enrollment limit has been met, and students who complete all enrollment tasks will be placed on a waiting list and released to enroll based on completion of enrollment tasks.
First semester enrollment will close at 11 pm CT on 9/6/2024.
- The last day to register: 9/3/2024
- The last day to submit documents: 9/5/2024
- The last day to complete confirmation: 9/6/2024 11 pm CT
Students in grades K-10 not enrolled by 9/6/2024 will have the opportunity to enroll for second semester. Grades 11-12 will close enrollment for the 2024-25 school year.

Check Eligibility
You must meet specific requirements to attend the Kansas Connections Academy school, which is established by the Kansas State Department of Education. Before enrolling, review the following eligibility requirements carefully to determine whether your student(s) is eligible to enroll in online school for grades K–12. Once your enrollment is confirmed, please immediately withdraw your student from their previous publicly-funded school. Students cannot be simultaneously enrolled in two public schools.
Note: Students who are currently expelled from their local school or district may not be eligible to enroll.

Please have the following documents available when you are ready to begin the enrollment process.

A copy of one of the following must be provided for each child in order to verify age eligibility:
- Official birth certificate
- Passport
- Certificate of Live Birth
As a reminder, the age eligibility is as follows:
- Kindergarten: Any students enrolling in kindergarten must be five (5) years old on or before August 31 in the school year for which they are enrolling.
- First Grade: Any students enrolling in first grade must be six (6) years old on or before August 31 in the school year for which they are enrolling.
- Maximum Age: Any student who turns eighteen (18) years old on or before September 20 will not be eligible to enroll in Kansas Connections Academy.

A copy of one of the following documents must be provided to verify your legal residence. If you do not have any of these documents, please contact the enrollment team at 800-382-6010 to discuss acceptable alternatives:

- Gas, electric, water, sewage, cable, landline phone bill, or trash and oil/propane delivery bills from the last 60 days that includes your name and service address
- Mortgage statement from the last 60 days or annual lease agreement
- Kansas driver's license
- Property tax statement

- All Kansas Connections Academy students must provide evidence of their immunizations with a copy of the Kansas Certificate of Immunization.
This form must be signed by you and a health care provider.

Where Can I Get Immunizations for My Student?
Immunizations can be obtained from doctor’s offices, clinics, or hospitals. Pediatricians and family doctors or their nurses or medical assistants can give your student the shots he or she needs to meet the requirements for school enrollment. In addition, some large chain pharmacies offer immunizations for older children and adults.
What if I Need Assistance Paying for Vaccines?
If you need assistance paying for shots/vaccinations, you may be able to get free or reduced immunizations through this program:
- Vaccines for Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability to pay. Children who are eligible for VFC vaccines are entitled to receive pediatric vaccines that are recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
Immunization Exemptions
According to the Kansas "Legal Alternatives to Vaccination Requirements" code KSA 72-5209, a student may be exempt from immunizations for medical or religious reasons. To learn more about these exemptions, see below:
- Religious Exemption: To receive a religious exemption parents must provide a "written statement signed by one parent or guardian that the child is an adherent of a religious denomination whose religious teachings are opposed to such tests or inoculations."
- Medical Exemption: To receive a medical exemption parents/guardians must provide the Kansas Certificate of Immunization Exemption Form signed by a health care provider.

Prior Academic Records
Students across Kansas in grades K-12 are eligible to enroll in Kansas Connections Academy. Those who have previously attended public school, private school, or homeschool will be asked to submit academic records for placement.
Report Card
For students applying for grades K–9: Please submit a copy of the previous year’s report card.
The following items should be included on the report card:
- Student Name
- Grade Level
- School Year (example: 2023–24)
- School Name
- Grading Scale (example: 90–100%=A)
Unofficial Transcript
For students applying for grades 10–12: Submit an unofficial transcript that includes the complete end-of-year grades from the prior school year and any academic documentation (such as a progress report/interim report, class schedule, or marking period/semester report card) issued for the current school year. Additional documentation may be requested for placement.
The following items should be included on the unofficial transcript:
- Student Name
- Grade Level
- School Year (example: 2023–24)
- School Name
- Grading Scale (example: 90–100%=A)
- Credits Earned
Not Sure How to Get Your Child’s Report Card or Transcript?
- Contact your student's previous school and request the document, providing them with the information outlined above, OR contact your school's district office with the request.
If after attempting these steps you still cannot obtain your student's report card or transcript, please contact the academic placement services team at 800-382-6010 to discuss acceptable alternatives.

Other Documents for Special Circumstances
You may need to provide additional documentation if any of the following circumstances apply:
Custody order: If your legal guardianship is determined by a court order, please submit a copy of the order.
Special Education Documentation: If your student has had an Individualized Education Program (IEP) within the past three years, please submit the following documents. These documents are being requested in order to assist the school with providing your student with a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment. The special education director at Kansas Connections Academy will review the documents to see if KCA can meet your child’s needs virtually.
- IEP Documentation: Please submit a copy of the most recent IEP from within the last year.
- Supporting Evaluation Documentation: Please submit a copy of the most recent Evaluation Report.
Additional Special Education Documentation:
- IEP Exit Documentation: If your student has been formally exited from special education services, please submit a copy of the formal exit documentation.
Section 504 Plan: If your student has had a Section 504 plan within the past three years, please submit a copy of this document.
