Manager of Special Programs
Master's degree, Political Science, Special Education Certification, Ball State University
Tia Reisinger is the manager of special programs at Indiana Connections Career Academy. She earned a master's degree in political science and a special education certification from Ball State University. Ms. Reisinger began her teaching career in 2006 and joined Connections Academy in 2011. She shares her teaching story below:
“I started out wanting to become a lawyer. After working for the Indiana Department of Corrections as an administrative assistant straight out of college, I decided I wanted to change courses and got my teaching license.
What I love about Connections Academy is that it continues to challenge me. This is my third Connections Academy school, and Indiana Connections Career Academy has given me the additional challenge of expanding my skill set to other administrative tasks outside of learning support. I also enjoy the flexibility, pace, and relationships that I've built.
Indiana Connections Career Academy is helping to provide students with real-world skills that they need both in the classroom and on the job. By learning employability skills, in addition to the rigorous curriculum, students are becoming more well-rounded and prepared for the workforce. As a small school, teachers have banded together. I also think the slightly lower teacher-to-student ratio has helped the students to bond with their teachers to make us a true community and not just a school.”

For prospective parents interested in online school, Ms. Reisinger says, “You must be involved in your child’s education for virtual schooling to work. You cannot be passive. Also, Indiana Connections Career Academy is unique in that we are not only preparing your child to be an effective communicator, a good writer, a math whiz, or to pass a standardized test, but we are arming them with tools that will help them to better transition to the workforce."
Outside of work, Ms. Reisinger enjoys bowling, watching movies, reading, spending time with her family, traveling, and sight-seeing.
