Teachers Who Care and Seem Like Friends

According to Nikolas, he had a hard time learning at the brick-and-mortar public school he had been attending. “It was too fast. Covid started during eighth grade, we went hybrid on and off, and I just couldn’t recover my grades. Everything was frustrating and confusing.”

Says Nikolas’ mom, “The constant access to teachers who really care at this school has been important to us. … His grades actually improved at least one grade level as soon as we started.”

Reports Nikolas, “Even though there are many students here, the teachers take the time for each student. They make it geared towards individuals instead of the whole class or school. You feel very welcome. Your teachers almost seem like friends.”

A School That’s Cool and Highly Interactive

“I wasn’t expecting this school to be so interactive,” says Nikolas. “It’s cool. … I mostly talked with my teachers through Messenger, and it really worked for me. … I also liked the flexibility and being able to work on my own time at my own pace.”

Nikolas’ advice to new students: “It might be confusing at first, but push through it and learn slowly or at your own pace until you see that it’s easier for you. Prioritize your time.”

Nikolas applied to three colleges and was accepted to all of them. He plans to attend Regent University, where he will focus on cybersecurity. Says Nikolas, “I really love technology, using technology, and learning about it. I know it’s always going to be in demand.”

“This school is not overwhelming. Everyone is nice. It’s very homelike. It doesn't feel like it’s so much about school, it’s more about people helping you get ahead.”
