Angela Himber
Learning Coach
Ms. Himber is the mother and Learning Cach of two students at Great Lakes Learning Academy, one in middle school, the other in high school. Ms. Himber said, “For both students, my favorite part of being a Learning Coach is being able to step in at any time to help guide them.”
Why They Selected Great Lakes Learning Academy
What interested the Himber family most about our online school was the flexibility of the program, the opportunity for advanced learning, and the safe environment. Ms. Himber says, “I love that my teens are safe and not experiencing the bullying that we did in brick-and-mortar schools.
“Thanks to this school’s flexibility, our advanced learner in middle school can work ahead and take on some extra projects. She loves sports and participates in one every season. She takes care of school in the morning and does her workouts in the afternoon.”
The Experience of an Online School
“Our high school student is a Senior Airman Cadet in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). The school’s flexibility enables him to take part in many activities with the CAP and work toward getting his pilot’s license. … He’s planning to enter the military after high school.”
“The school’s flexibility also allows both students to work on our hobby farm and participate in various activities, as well as manage their classes and homework. It has also enabled them to develop new hobbies and a great work ethic.”
Ms. Himber’s advice to families joining Great Lakes Learning Academy: “Be flexible and patient. It may take a bit for your student and your family to adjust.”
“What I love most about Great Lakes Learning Academy is the flexibility!”
