A senior at Texas Connections Academy, Simon is an internationally ranked competitive fencer, an actor, and a singer — and will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall. He says the flexibility of online school helped make his achievements possible.

Student Spotlight: Simon L.
Simon joined Texas Connections Academy during COVID-19, when his family was looking for a school with experience providing quality online education. Upon graduating, the very accomplished student will attend the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania!
Flexibility that Helped Open Up the World
Thanks to the flexibility of our school, Simon has been able to travel the world competing as an epee fencer, performing as an actor, and showcasing his talents as a singer. “This school seems to be built for me,” he said. “I don’t have to stress about falling behind due to my travel schedule. It helps teach me how to manage my time.”
Simon is currently ranked #1 in the U.S. and fourth in the world in Junior Men’s Epee fencing under the age of 21. His goal is to join the U.S. men’s team at the 2028 Summer Olympics. In addition, he’s appeared in many feature and short films, performed on Broadway, recorded two albums, and signed with a New York talent agency.
Simon is also a gifted, hardworking student enrolled in numerous AP* courses. His favorite classes at our school include math, marketing, AP Seminar, and AP Research. He looks forward to attending the University of Pennsylvania, where he’ll study business and compete in NCAA fencing.
