Wanda Midthun

Wanda Midthun is an elementary school teacher at Wyoming Connections Academy. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Lesley University. Below, Ms. Midthun shares more about why she became a teacher.

“I struggled as an elementary student because of a difficult home life. My third grade teacher treated me like I was special, and because of that, I felt respected. From that point on, I started to excel and do well in school. I wanted to work with children and make them feel cared for and respected. When you see the little light that comes on when they understand a concept, it’s priceless.

I love being part of a professional, caring, and respectful team of amazing educators. Our students are unique and have diverse needs. I love the challenge of reaching out to those students and their families and helping them in an online environment.

The benefit of teaching at an online school versus a bricks-and-mortar school is the flexibility that it provides for students and families. I can work on a concept with one student or a small group and I don't have to worry about what the other kids are doing, like I did in the traditional school. I feel like I know my students and their families so much better because of all the contacts and conversations I have with them.

If you really want to be a part of your child's education, then this is the program for you. If you like flexibility in education, then this is the program for you. If you want individualized education, then this is the program for you. If you want educated, professional, and supportive teachers who really care about your child, then this is definitely the program for you.

Outside of school, I love painting crafts, spending time with my family and friends, going to the movies, and watching the Minnesota Vikings play football. My family has four amazing dogs and one beautiful kitty. We love playing with them and spoiling them.”
