Staff Spotlight: Dr. Denita Bottoms
Dr. Bottoms joined Virginia Connections Academy in 2022 as manager of counseling services. As assistant principal, she continues working closely with students and families to help them thrive and be successful. According to Dr. Bottoms, “This school creates a welcoming community for parents and students through communication and family engagement.”

What you may not know about this dedicated educator is that she’s a 16-time National Collegiate Athletic Association All-American in track and field; she wrote a children’s book titled Simone B and the Magical Mirror; and her favorite food is pasta.
