Middle School Teacher
Rachel Grindstaff is a middle school teacher at California Connections Academy @ Capistrano. She began her teaching career in 2009 and joined Connections Academy in 2012. Mrs. Grindstaff earned her bachelor's degree in American studies from Brigham Young University, and her master's degree in educational technology from California State University Fullerton. She shares about her teaching experience below.
The Online School Experience at Utah Connections Academy
"I became a teacher because I love helping and watching people gain an understanding of something. At UCA, I can focus more on the students that need the most help. I'm also able to get to know the students on a more individual basis and even meet them in-person at field trips.
The world is becoming very technology-based, so learning online gives students a distinct advantage over others. UCA is unique because it has a small, close-knit school community, and the teachers and staff are dedicated to the students' needs.

My Teaching Background
I would tell a perspective parent that you have the opportunity to be more involved in your child's education—and the supportive teachers want to see him or her succeed. Students are also able to learn at a time that works best for them."
Hobbies and Interests
When she's not teaching, Mrs. Grindstaff enjoys cooking for her family, traveling (she has traveled to 30 states between the west and east coast), and camping.
