How Does Online School Differ From In-Person Learning?
All Connections Academy curricula are aligned to meet state standards and offer many of the same benefits as in-person learning, including the opportunity to build foundational knowledge, explore new passions, make connections, and more.
But unlike in a traditional brick-and-mortar school, Connections Academy students have the chance to learn where—and when—works for them through the Pearson Online Classroom.
How Does Connections Academy Work?
Every school day brings together engaging online lessons with plenty of time for your child to learn in the way that works best of them. Acting as their Learning Coach, you’ll be there to lend a hand whenever they need—and celebrate each step forward. You can expect:

At Connections Academy, you have the unique opportunity to serve as your student’s dedicated Learning Coach. While the level of support you need to offer your student will depend greatly on their grade and level of independence, you will be there to help facilitate their ongoing learning. This may include anything from ensuring assignments are completed, schedules are met, and students are engaged and motivated. Many of our parents find that acting as a Learning Coach is a wonderful chance to bond with their child and have a direct impact on their learning.
The Pearson Online Classroom is designed to help students get the knowledge, skills, and connection they need to succeed—both academically and socially. Students and Learning Coaches do not need advanced computer skills to attend Connections Academy. Through our Learning Coach Success series, parents are given the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions on a variety of topics, including tips on how to use our technology, where to find resources in Pearson Online Classroom, and more.
We know that making connections is one of the most important aspects of learning—and we’re passionate about offering each of our students a strong circle of support that includes their family, peers, and educators. In addition to working and connecting with other students during LiveLessons, your student will have the chance to make friends by participating in one or more of our clubs and activities, attending optional in-person field trips, and more.
Yes, absolutely. In addition to being certified in your state, your student’s teacher is also specifically trained in online education. Our teachers are passionate about student success and will be a valuable resource and guide for your child’s online learning experience.
Connections Academy gives students the unique opportunity to learn how they learn best—when and where they can. As long as you have a reliable internet connection, you will be able to develop a learning that works best for your student and family. Please note, however, that students will have to meet certain attendance requirements, which you can learn more about by contacting the Connections Academy in your state.
