8th grade English Language Arts Teacher

University South Carolina Upstate Bachelors in Middle Level Education

Virginia teaches 8th grade English Language Arts. With over 7 years of teaching experience Virginia has been at South Carolina Connections Academy for the past two years. Mrs. Wolfe shares more below.

Why I Became a Teacher

"In college, I decided that I wanted to do something more for people. My older sister had been teaching for 10 years by that time and she is the one who suggested to give teaching a shot. I started the program at University of South Carolina Upstate and fell in love!

I also love the comradery at South Carolina Connections Academy. I came from a school that was truly like a family, and I feared that I would greatly miss that, however, I am finding that our staff is also like a family and they are.

"Students are being taught agency with an education. They are having to be advocates for themselves and for their education which is an invaluable skill to have.”

The benefit of teaching virtually would be that there is more time for actual learning. As a virtual teacher, I am not spending 90% of my day trying to "control" the class and 10% teaching. It is truly all about the teaching and the success of the students here.

We do a lot of Break Out Rooms in our Livelessons to allow the students time to interact and collaborate with each other. We also love playing games like Quizziz and Kahoot! to get the students engaged.

My Interests

I love being with my family which consists of my wife and my 2 year old son. We enjoy hiking, cooking, and playing outside. I also enjoy playing and writing music."
