Graduate
Laura is a 2023 graduate of South Carolina Connections Academy. She deeply appreciates the school’s flexibility because it has enabled her to be involved in the mental health causes she supports.
Laura recently received the Girl Scouts Gold Award, the highest-level award a Girl Scout can achieve. It was for her project on 988 education, which focuses on helping students in serious emotional distress.
Laura wrote a school curriculum for educators to use with students in middle school and high school to teach them about the new 988 system, including when and how to use it. The program will be available to anyone through Mental Health America of Greenville County.
What’s next for Laura? She’ll attend the University of South Carolina Aiken, where she will major in marketing and graphic design.
