Cathy Gratz

SCCA teacher Ms Gratz

Cathy Gratz is an elementary school art teacher at South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from Winthrop University. Learn more about Ms. Gratz’s story below:

“I actually did not start out teaching. I planned on being a high-powered art executive at a graphic design firm. After about a year of working in graphic design, the shine began to wear off of that dream. I began to realize the high pressured, fast-paced corporate work machine was not what I wanted for my life. I wanted to make a difference somewhere. I wanted to find a way to use my gifts to do just that. After a move, I found a job working as an aide in a school and really fell in love with the children and the learning environment. I returned to school to get my certification in education, and here I am.

To any parent considering enrolling their child, I would say that SCCA offers students a personalized education. Students can find the learning style that best fits them to help them achieve success in school.”

I love SCCA because I love building relationships with people and finding ways to connect.
