Kelsey Morgan Faucett
Morgan is a high school student at South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA). She lives in Union, South Carolina. At SCCA, Morgan is able to take advanced courses that enable her to further explore her unique talents. Her mother tells her story below.
"Morgan has been part of the Gifted and Talented and AP and Honors program at SCCA. The curriculum has been challenging but never overwhelming. Morgan found the Gifted and Talented art class to be her favorite subject. The class was a great way to meet other students throughout the state who share her love of art.
SCCA’s art program has allowed Morgan not only to define her abilities, but also to showcase her talent. For example, at a county fair, Morgan won “Best in Show” in the seventh through twelfth grade division. Recently, Morgan was picked to have her own art exhibit at the Chapman Cultural Center. She attributes this success to the knowledge gained while she was enrolled in the Gifted and Talented art program at South Carolina Connections Academy.
Because of the flexible schedule at SCCA, Morgan is able to move her schoolwork around to accommodate private art lessons. She is also able to work ahead with no interruptions. Since she is not overloaded with homework, that extra time is used to practice her art. The curriculum, flexible schedule, and activities make South Carolina Connections Academy the perfect school for Morgan."
Morgan aspires to write and illustrate books in the future.
I love SCCA because of the close relationships I have with my teachers. When I have problem, all I have to do is call, and they give me the time I need to fully understand my mistakes. I also love that I can work at my own pace. The best part is that I have completed more artwork than ever because of the flexible schedule!
