Allison Hinson

SCCA student Allison and her sisters at a bluegrass festival

Allison is a graduate of South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA). Her sisters and Kristin and Melissa are also graduates, and her sister, Katelyn, is a high schooler at SCCA. Allison appreciates how SCCA made it possible to schedule her studies around riding horses and performing with the family band.

“What I liked most about SCCA is that it provided me flexibility and the opportunity to pursue my other interests and talents without being tied down to an 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. schedule. The flexible schedule also allowed me to work on school when I wanted, and I could take courses above my grade level. My favorite subjects were language arts and science. What I enjoyed most during my school day were the LiveLesson® sessions."

I am passionate about horses, and SCCA gave me the flexibility to go ride when the weather was nice. I spent time with my friends going to the movies or the mall, just like any other teenage girl. I am also passionate about playing the banjo and also enjoy traveling and performing with my sisters in our bluegrass/gospel band.

I plan to attend a four-year college and major in biology. Then, I plan to further my education with vet school. I hope to become an equine vet and horse trainer.”
