Nichole Neal started teaching in 2000 and joined Lowcountry Connections Academy in 2022. She teaches English Language Arts to students in grades 6–8. According to Ms. Neal, the most rewarding part of her job is “seeing students become successful at something they were hesitant about.”

Why She Became a Teacher

Reports Ms. Neal, “I became a teacher because I have always enjoyed interacting with, working with, and helping children.”

The Online Experience at Lowcountry Connections Academy

Ms. Neal fosters student engagement with their courses and encourages interaction between students by posing interesting questions and providing engaging texts. She also encourages listening and sharing ideas.

“One of my favorite activities is reading and analyzing Bad Boy: A Memoir by Walter Dean Myers and any short story by O. Henry,” says Ms. Neal. “That’s because of Myers’s engaging language and interesting experiences and O. Henry’s use of surprise. … I love discussing engaging texts with students.”

What Families Considering This School Should Keep in Mind

An education at Lowcountry Connections Academy helps prepare students for a successful future by strengthening their ability to stay organized and by providing them with a strong, detailed curriculum. According to Ms. Neal, parents thinking of enrolling their child here should “be prepared to help your student along a meaningful educational journey.”

Ms. Neal’s Personal Interests

“I like to read, bake, and spend time with family,” says Ms. Neal.

“One of my favorite field trips was touring a museum with students while discussing the exhibits and taking pictures with them.”
