Brittany Bischoff started teaching in 2015 and joined Lowcountry Connections Academy in 2022. She teaches elementary English language arts and social studies to students in grades 3–5.

Why She Became a Teacher

According to Ms. Bischoff, “I became a teacher because I understood the need [to help] students who struggle in certain areas. As a student, I always struggled with school. It was not something that came easy to me. I found a teacher in high school who was great at meeting students where they were and teaching in a way that helped them learn their best.

“I try to make sure I’m teaching students who may not enjoy school or who may struggle with school and need extra support. This is something I always wished I had in earlier grades, and I feel it would have made a difference in my ability to succeed.

“I love teaching students online because it allows me to learn more about their home environments and meet students where they are. My job is rewarding because I get to make this learning environment special and unique for each student and encourage them to do and be their best.”

The Online Experience at Lowcountry Connections Academy

Ms. Bischoff explains, “In a virtual environment, I feel it’s essential to encourage student engagement [with] activities that help each student show [who they are]. It’s essential that all students are involved in the lesson, and not just sitting in front of a computer all day. If students feel personally connected to their teacher and peers, they’re more likely to have a positive experience that’s crucial for them to succeed.

I love when … students use their creativity or give us a glimpse into their lives at home. [They] love showing off their homes and the things they’re most proud of. I encourage students to always do their best and reward them by giving them the space and time to interact with their peers.”

What Families Considering This School Should Keep in Mind

According to Ms. Bischoff, enrolling at Lowcountry Connections Academy “gives students and their families the opportunity to take control of their learning environment and create their own educational experience that works best for them. We are here to help and support all students in their journey to become successful adults.”

She believes an education at this school helps prepare students to succeed “by helping them create a learning environment that benefits them and creates a sense of responsibility in their educational experience.”

Ms. Bischoff’s Personal Interests

“I have been married eight years … and have two young children. We have a labradoodle named Murphy. I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and enjoy going to the river and reading.”

“This school allows for flexibility and for students to engage in lessons in the most beneficial ways in their own learning environment.”
