Online public schools in Ohio are an excellent way for students to learn from home, with parent involvement. Through the online learning portal, students connect to their curriculum, lessons, and teachers. Working from home, students have the flexibility to build a schedule around their needs for extracurriculars, and also work at a pace that best suits their learning style.

Because Ohio online public schools are a part of the state’s public school system, there is no tuition to attend a K12 Ohio virtual school. Ohio online public school students are delivered an education from home that meets the same state standards in education as their traditional school peers.

While Ohio online schooling and homeschooling are similar in that the schooling is completed at home, homeschool programs are quite different. Parents who choose the path of traditional homeschooling programs have total responsibility for developing or buying the curriculum and serving as the teacher—teaching lessons and grading student work.

At a virtual school, students are taught a state-approved curriculum by Ohio-certified teachers.

Students looking to graduate from online high school in Ohio must successfully earn a minimum of 21 credits. At Ohio Connections Academy specifically, in addition to the 21 credits, a minimum of 5 credits must be earned at Ohio Connections Academy, and at least 1.5 credits must be earned in the semester immediately prior to graduation. Additionally, students must be enrolled in Ohio Connections Academy full time and not in any other program in the semester before graduation.
