Special Education Services

Designed to Help Each Student Thrive

Reach Cyber Charter School provides special education services, without discrimination or cost to the student or family, for students determined to be eligible and in need of special education. These student-specific related aids, services, or accommodations provide equal opportunity for students to participate in and obtain benefits of the school program. Students are educated in the Least Restrictive Environment.

A child eligible to receive special education services is a student who has been evaluated by a school’s multidisciplinary team, who has been determined to have one or more of the following disabilities, and who, by reason thereof, needs special education and related services:

  • Autism
  • Deafness-blindness
  • Emotional disturbance
  • Hearing impairment including deafness
  • Intellectual disability
  • Multiple disabilities
  • Orthopedic impairment
  • Other health impairment
  • Specific learning disability
  • Speech language impairment
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Visual impairment including blindness

Reach Cyber Charter School is here to help students who are receiving special education services prepare to be college, career, or community ready through transition planning.

Transition planning is a process mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) for all students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in K–12 education. The purpose is to facilitate the student’s move from school to post-school activities. The Pennsylvania Department of Education mandates that this planning begin for students at the age of 14.

Reach Cyber Charter School’s vision includes being committed to providing a quality education for all learners and being committed to educational excellence. Reach Cyber Charter School recognizes that gifted learners are a population with educational requirements in need of student-centered learning that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and enrichment in areas of student strengths.

The gifted student’s ability for academic achievement beyond their same-age peers requires specially designed services. A gifted learner may require a differentiated pace of instruction, a differentiated depth and breadth of instruction, and/or a differentiated educational focus based upon interests or skills. We acknowledge that gifted learners require rigor, seek challenge, prefer choice, and enjoy open-ended activities.

We also realize that the level of success that our gifted learners attain is linked to the relationship forged between the students’ parents and school personnel. Reach Cyber Charter School is committed to providing a school environment that fosters achievement and the realization of each student’s potential. We are committed to educational excellence. Ongoing assessment and suggestions ensure that our program provides for the needs of gifted students in all grades. Gifted support services ranging from enrichment to acceleration are matched to the needs of individual learners to provide an environment where students can maximize their exceptional ability and potential.
