Ms. Manthey is an elementary school teacher at Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA). She has more than 20 years of teaching experience, starting her teaching career in 1994. She has been teaching with ORCA since 2006. She earned her master’s degree in reading and literacy instruction from Walden University.
When asked why she became a teacher, Ms. Manthey replied:
“I believe it is a calling to build and edify my students, and help them learn what they need in order to become successful adults. I love teaching at ORCA! It is a tremendous opportunity to work with my students and their parents one-on-one in our virtual environment. The biggest benefit of teaching here as opposed to a bricks-and-mortar school is a far greater ability to individualize instruction to meet each student’s needs.
I would tell a prospective family that this is not a one-size-fits-all program. It is not the best fit for every student, but for those for whom it works well, it is an amazing opportunity to learn, grow, and develop their potential.
I really enjoy the opportunity that our virtual environment offers to work with my students one-on-one.
