When asked why she became a teacher, Ms. Bender responded:

“I always wanted to coach, so teaching and coaching went hand-in-hand. I had a PE teacher in middle school who showed such a passion for what he taught—it made me want to go on and become a teacher myself. I enjoy teaching students how to take better care of themselves through physical activity and daily diet.

I love being a teacher at ORCA! I enjoy being able to work with technology every day, and I like the flexibility of our environment. The flexibility is beneficial not only for our students who compete in numerous activities outside of school, but also for us as teachers. I love the variety of backgrounds that we have here at ORCA, such as the students who participate in the arts and those who are highly competitive athletes. Allowing the students the flexibility to participate in those activities is wonderful.”
