Parent Resources

Online education can strengthen family ties and provide the individual attention children need to thrive, but getting started can be a big change for parents. Get a strong start to your online school year with our wide range of orientation resources and activities. Our onboarding program helps ensure that you receive the support and tools you need to effectively transition to online school.

We provide an online orientation for both Learning Coaches and students. The orientations are designed to familiarize new Connections Academy families with how online school works and what you need to know to be successful. Orientations are available at your convenience, 24/7.

Tips for a Successful Learning Environment

Before the school year begins, you will want to plan and prepare to have your student learn at home. Creating a dedicated learning space is key for encouraging productivity. Learn how to design an organized and comfortable workspace for your student to allow him or her to focus and establish good work habits.

Create a Dedicated A+ Learning Space

You can also use the Family Plan template of tasks and guidelines to help discuss the expectations of the school week. By creating an if-then plan, you can prepare for challenges and outline your role and your student’s role.

Your Family Plan for Success

Once you receive your student’s course schedule, you can begin to think about how you will organize the coursework throughout the week. To keep your student’s coursework on track, develop a scheduling plan together using the Connexus® planner or by creating your own daily schedule. You may also choose to create a personalized alternative or block schedule.
