Lillian Connolly is a high school student at Ohio Connections Academy (OCA). A passionate figure skater and ballerina, Lillian was looking for a school that would allow her to receive a high-quality education while still pursuing her passions. Now at OCA, she loves that she is able to attend school on her terms. She shares more of her story below.
“At my previous traditional school, I was missing too many days in order to compete in out-of-town figure skating competitions and participate in the Dayton Ballet's, The Nutcracker. I didn't want to give up any skating or dance opportunities, so my mom did some research and found OCA, and it sounded perfect for me. I love the flexible schedule, challenging classes, and gifted course options—school isn't so boring now.
I have great teachers who really get to know me. They even want me to send them videos when I perform in shows! I like that they are there for me if I ever need help or have questions. I can tell that they really care about all of us kids.
OCA allows me to do the things I’m passionate about as much as I need to without falling behind in my schoolwork. I can take my laptop with me to the skating rink and dance studio, and on the road. I have even done some lessons backstage when I was in The Nutcracker! I would not be able to have the opportunities that I have now if it weren't for OCA's flexible schedule.”
