Ellexxah Maxwell

OCA student Ellexxah with her horse

Ellexxah Maxwell is a high school student at Ohio Connections Academy (OCA). She lives in West Mansfield, OH with her family. OCA’s flexible scheduling has allowed Ellexxah to excel as a student and an athlete. Learn more about her story below.

Ellexxah’s parents have been showing horses for over thirty years at the equestrian training center that they operate in their hometown. When Ellexxah was just three days old, she attended her first All-American Quarter Horse Congress (AQHA), and at just eighteen months old, she rode and competed in her first AQHA approved. As the only child of two horse trainers, she has been continuously exposed to the demanding world of showing as a full-time business. As Ellexxah approached school age, the Maxwells had the challenge of finding an education program that would suit their unconventional life style. They were somewhat familiar with several online schools, so they decided to try OCA. Since enrolling as a kindergartener, Ellexxah has traveled with her parents, showing horses and meeting new people from all over the United States.

OCA has made it possible for Ellexxah to compile equestrian wins throughout the country. She and her horse, The Cookie Baker, even made Congress history. At the age of six, she won both the 13 & Under Novice Youth Showmanship and the Small Fry Horsemanship, making her the youngest two-time Champion since it began in 1967. The Maxwell’s are thankful that OCA has been very supportive of Ellexxah’s amazing achievements, and are pleased that they have found a high quality school that allows their daughter to pursue her interests and get the best education possible.

Ellexxah finished the 2015 competition season by winning her 10th AQHA National title—it will be the second time that she will also be named the nation’s AQHA High-Point Youth in the last four years. Her parents, obviously, are very proud of all of her accomplishments.

Over the last year, Ellexxah has been serving as an ambassador for OCA. She has been traveling to events all over the state to answer other students’ questions and provide them with information. Ellexxah is proud of her school and thankful for all of the teachers who have been instrumental in helping her prepare for a successful future of doing something she loves.

We are very proud to call OCA our home, and do our very best to inform parents and students about the wonderful opportunities that OCA makes possible through its flexible learning program.
