Britaney Dyer is a high school student at Ohio Connections Academy (OCA). She lives in Morrow, Ohio, with her parents and brother, Brannen, who is an OCA student. At OCA, Britaney is able to explore her many skills and talents through advanced courses. Her parents share her story below:
"We decided to research eSchools when our local school district, which was struggling financially, began cutting many of their programs. We were frustrated that our kids were going to have to attend a traditional school in our area and no longer receive the benefits of learning from Gifted and Talented, art, physical education, and music programs.
After researching many eSchool and homeschool options, we decided that Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) was the best fit for Britaney and our family. OCA provides Britaney a customized curriculum that is both flexible and challenging. She has been involved with Gifted and Talented programs since elementary school, and at OCA, she can continue.
Right now, Britaney’s favorite subjects are math and science. She enjoys the Live Lesson® sessions and the interaction with other students through OCA. Britaney is successful at OCA because she is independent and highly motivated to do her best with assignments and completing her daily tasks.
The flexibility of the OCA program has allowed our family to enrich her education by attending multiple OCA and family field trips that a brick-and-mortar institution could not provide. Outside of school, Britaney is passionate about reading novels, listening to music, and playing Upward Basketball."
I love OCA because of the interaction with other students during my LiveLesson sessions and on OCA field trips.
