Serina Banglian teaches math, science, social studies, and language arts to third graders at North Carolina Connections Academy (NCCA). She graduated from SUNY Albany and SUNY Oneonta, and most recently earned a master’s degree in childhood education. Ms. Banglian began her full-time teaching career in 2015 and joined Connections Academy in 2017. She shares more about herself and what she enjoys about teaching in an online environment below.
“I became a teacher because I love helping people and motivating them to succeed. The school community at NCCA practices professionalism and confidentiality while encouraging a family-like atmosphere.
I love the phenomenal curriculum and resources that Connections Academy offers to its students because it encourages an atmosphere of professional and pedagogical growth. Students learn the newest subjects aligned with Common Core national standards. They also practice using programs such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, which prepares them for college readiness and academic computer literacy.
The benefits of teaching at an online school like NCCA is the advanced technology used to equip students with 21st century skills. NCCA is a great place for students because the curriculum is differentiated and teachers welcome you into a new learning environment.
Outside of teaching I love to volunteer. As a Point of Light Award recipient and a mother of two, I understand the power of giving to others and plan to continue to be active in my community.”
