June 1, 2022 (Columbia, Maryland) – Pearson Virtual Schools (PVS) has been honored with two 2022 EdTech Digest Awards for education technology excellence and overall edtech category leadership. PVS is the division of Pearson that supports K-12 online education including its noted Connections Academy program--which has provided a full-time online public school option for students for more than 20 years.
The first PVS EdTech Digest award recognizes the Connections Academy full-time online school program as a finalist in the ‘e-learning, blended, flipped solution or remote solution’ category in the “Cool Tools” Awards.
Pearson Virtual Schools itself was honored as a finalist in ‘EdTech Company Setting a Trend’ category of the ‘EdTech Trendsetter’ Award.
Celebrating its 12th year, the EdTech Digest Awards program is the world's largest recognition program for education technology, recognizing the biggest names in EdTech – and those who soon will be. The Awards recognize products, organizations and individuals for outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology to enrich the lives of learners everywhere. Amid the pandemic in 2020, Connections Academy schools saw enrollment increase by over 40%. Since that time, enrollment levels have sustained, with more students opting to stay and new families making the decision to enroll; revealing that exposure to a "true online school experience" (versus the pandemic's emergency remote learning) positively impacted parent preference.
In addition, parents have directly shared their satisfaction. In its annual Parent Satisfaction Survey, fielded in February 2022, 95% of parents rate the Connections Academy curriculum as high quality, 94% say their children are making good progress, and 97% give their child's online school teachers top marks for helpfulness.
