LOWCOUNTRY CONNECTIONS ACADEMY ANNOUNCES SCHOOL LEADER FOR NEW K-12 VIRTUAL PUBLIC SCHOOL
GeRita Connor steps into new role for 2021-22 academic year
July 14, 2021 (Columbia, South Carolina) – Lowcountry Connections Academy announces the appointment of GeRita Connor as school leader of the tuition-free online public school serving students in grades K-12 across South Carolina. In this position, Connor will lead a robust staff of dedicated teachers and administrators at Lowcountry Connections Academy, which will start its first school year on August 17, 2021.
Connor brings more than 17 years of experience in the public and virtual education sectors to her new role at Lowcountry Connections Academy. Connor previously worked for Connections Academy in North Carolina before leaving to take a principal position and will bring this experience with the Connections Academy model to her role at the helm of Lowcountry Connections Academy.

Prior to joining Lowcountry Connections Academy, Connor served as principal in charter and traditional brick and mortar schools. Connor holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, a Master of Special Education from the University of North Carolina Pembroke and a Master of School Administration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
As a full-time, online public school, Lowcountry Connections Academy will provide students with the continuous support of state-certified teachers and curriculum that focuses on both academics and social-emotional learning. Teachers are specially trained to bring their skills and personality to the virtual classroom and emphasize the importance of fostering meaningful connections with students and their families. Learning plans are flexible and can be uniquely tailored based on a student’s specific needs, helping them to take ownership of their own unique educational journey.
