ARP ESSER 3 COVID-19 Mitigation Plan and Use of Funds Plan
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act requires each local education agency (LEA) that receives funding under the ARP Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund to make publicly available and solicit feedback on the LEA’s COVID-19 Mitigation plan and on the ARP ESSER Use of Funds Plan. The Use of Funds Plan was reviewed and approved at the August 24, 2021 Board Meeting. Right to File a Complaint or Report Suspicious Activity
Concerns relating to the use of a school service by a pupil should be directed to the School Leader or their designee for a prompt resolution.
English Learner Pupil and Parent Rights (AB195)
Assembly Bill 195 requires, to the extent practicable, a parent or guardian of an English language learner to be provided with the enumerated rights in writing in both English and the person’s primary language at the time of the pupil’s registration. NDE has a responsibility to provide translated copies of the English Learner Pupil and Parental Rights in the five most common languages other than English spoken in households. Nevada Connections Academy contracts with Connections Education LLC dba Pearson Virtual Schools as an Educational Management Organization defined in NRS 388A.030 as a for-profit entity that contracts with and is accountable to the governing body of a charter school to provide centralized support or operations, including, without limitation, educational, administrative, management, compliance or instructional services or staff, to the charter school.
Nevada Connections Academy provides families the necessary technology equipment and software needed for students and Learning Coaches to do their day-to-day schoolwork at no cost to families. Nevada Connections Academy also provides the necessary technology equipment and software needed to teachers for them to perform their job responsibilities.
McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001 ensures educational rights and protections for children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness by removing barriers to school enrollment and daily participation in school activities. Under this act, various living situations may be considered homelessness and may qualify the child, youth, or family for certain services.
