Lynsie Hunt joined Missouri Connections Academy in 2014. She takes pride in the fact that the school is a safe environment for every student. Ms. Hunt shares her story below.
Why I Became an Educator
I went to a rural high school in Missouri where we didn’t have access to many types of courses and opportunities. One day I asked a teacher, “Why don’t we have the same things schools just down the road have?” She told me, “Lynsie, it is inequity, and it is up to you to change it.” I took that to heart and dedicated my professional life to doing just that.
What I love about working with students at Missouri Connections Academy is the ability to connect not just with students, but with the entire family. I also love how our online setup allows for lots of personalization and individualization.
The Online School Experience at Missouri Connections Academy
We connect with families as soon as we can to make sure they feel comfortable transitioning to this environment. Our teachers all work together to create an onboarding experience for families to put them at ease. What I love most about my job is helping provide a safe and robust educational experience that meets families where they are, instead of them being forced into an educational setting that may not be best for their student.
The two biggest differences between an online school and a bricks-and-mortar setting are flexibility and personalization. Families can work at the pace that fits their situation, and we have the ability to personalize and individualize instruction for each student.
One aspect of Missouri Connections Academy we’re most proud of is that it’s a safe environment for everyone. If a student can have a dynamic learning experience in a safe place, they’ll be set up for a bright future.
