Robin Nicole Tolbert, better known as “Nikki,” started her journey in education more than 20 years ago. Her vision as a leader has always been “to build a community of lifelong learners who are compassionate, empathetic, and understand the value of their potential.”

“I’ve served children in many different capacities, working as an enrichment teacher at a Christian school, an elementary reading specialist assistant, an elementary school teacher at a private school, a first-grade teacher at a charter school, founder and director of The Robin’s Nest Christian Preschool, and principal of a Pre-K through seventh grade charter school.

Education is the foundation for a child’s future, and I believe ALL students are capable of achieving high levels of success. Throughout my life, I have been inspired by so many educators, teachers, and principals. Through all my knowledge attained, I strongly believe that we must reach a child’s heart before reaching their mind.

Building genuine relationships with children is extremely important. Creating a learning environment where children feel loved, respected, and valued should always be the goal. Environments that embrace mistakes and allow children to feel welcome and comfortable taking chances build confidence and self-esteem. Each child on this earth is precious, unique, and an invaluable asset to society. We must understand that our words and our actions will either build up or tear down a child’s spirit; therefore, it’s imperative that teachers not only set high expectations, but teach with empathy, compassion, and intentionality.

As the K–-5 principal of this school, I look forward to sharing this vision with my team, with scholars, and with their families. As a servant leader, my priority will always be “Every student, every day; no exceptions, no excuses.” As challenges arise, I will exemplify the motto, “So what, now what?” by embracing a growth mindset that generates resilience.”

My goal is for Lighthouse Connections Academy to be a school where greatness happens and children thrive.
