Laura Campbell

Laura Campbell is an elementary school teacher at Lighthouse Connections Academy. She joined the school in 2019 and has been teaching since 2005. Ms. Campbell earned a bachelor of arts degree in early childhood education from Wittenberg University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on reading from Concordia University-Portland. She shares her story below:
“I have always loved working with children. I nannied for a family for eight years and fell in love with teaching kids. My first major in college wasn’t education, but after working with a tutoring program, I decided to go into education. Upon graduating, I moved back home to Michigan and began substitute teaching. From there, I moved into teaching preschool. I took some time off to have children and be a mom. After four years at home, I returned to teaching preschool until I accepted my current position with Lighthouse Connections Academy."
Lighthouse Connections Academy gives students a quality education while also teaching them the technology skills needed to be successful in our current world.

"I love the flexibility of teaching online because students and families get to work and learn at their pace along with having the help of a teacher. I get to teach and work with students, but I also get to continue being a mom and can be there for my children when they need me."
"If there’s anything I could tell a prospective parent as they are making the decision to enroll, it would be that Lighthouse Connections Academy is still a public school—we’re just virtual. There are still guidelines and expectations to be met even though schooling is taking place online and at home. Students and Learning Coaches can reach out to teachers to ask questions. Teachers are available by phone and email. We love hearing from students!”
In Ms. Campbell’s spare time, she keeps busy with her children and loves spending time being active outside. She enjoys mountain biking, swimming, camping, and hiking.
